Community Engagement
A community of practice is a group of people who share a common interest, a passion, or a concern and who interact regularly to learn from each other and improve their practice. These groups are built around a shared domain of knowledge and expertise, and they foster a sense of community and belonging among their members.
The IT PMO supports many communities of practice at The University of Queensland, but presently has carriage of the Business Analysis community and Project Management community.
We have active leaders in the Change Management community as well.
For other communities of practice look at
Business analysis is the practice of enabling change in an enterprise by defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders. Business analysis enables an enterprise to articulate needs and the rationale for change, and to design and describe solutions that can deliver value. (BABOK® Guide, Version 3.0, IIBA)
The UQ Business Analysis Community of Practice (BA CoP) has been established to create opportunities for BA practitioners – and those who use BA skills in their day-to-day role – to build and share knowledge together as peers.
The CoP meets quarterly to share knowledge and learnings and to build meaningful connections.

Project management is the discipline of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria at the specified time.
A Community of Practice (CoP) for Project Managers and UQ project professionals has been established to bring together anyone who has a passion for the practice of project management.
The CoP meets monthly and the group is keen to discuss sharing tips, tricks and techniques, as well as information about UQ's practices which include governance frameworks, project induction, estimation, release management, and improving understanding of Project Governance. The CoP is also active on Microsoft Teams.
