Brisbane City Council is delivering the turn-up-and-go Brisbane Metro at
UQ Lakes Bus Station, St Lucia Campus
The new Brisbane Metro will operate along dedicated busways to connect 18 stations from Eight Mile Plains to Roma Street, and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital to The University of Queensland.
BCC is working with Brisbane Move to design and deliver the major infrastructure works for the project.
Major infrastructure works at UQ Lakes station were completed in April 2024 and included upgrading the existing station platforms, shelters and seating to increase station capacity, and providing end-of-route charging for the electric metro fleet.
BCC ran a preview phase of the Brisbane Metro services on route 169 from Monday 21 October through to Sunday 17 November 2024. This phase has concluded and from Monday 18 November, route 169 returned to being serviced by the regular bus fleet. Customers can board the 169 bus from UQ Lakes station stop 1B.
BCC is continuing to work with Translink to prepare for the start of full Brisbane Metro services.
See Brisbane Metro website for more information.
