Learning and development

ITS promotes a culture of continuous learning and performance improvement.

A wide range of staff and leadership development, and career progression programs are available for all UQ staff, while ITS staff gain experience and knowledge with some of the best tools and technologies in the industry.

Staff and leadership development programs

The staff and leadership development programs include courses focussing on skill development and career enhancement, such as the Leadership Development at UQ program.

Staff development courses are categorised into 3 components:

  • mandatory
  • required
  • recommended.

These courses can be broken down into topics and include the role, or function, required or recommended for the course.

At UQ, we recognise leaders can be born, but more often, are made. As an organisation, we strive for a culture of leadership which is collaborative, respectful, and inclusive.

We promote leadership which supports individuals and teams to do their best work in service of our broader UQ community, at all levels throughout the University.

Leadership development at UQ offers several programs targeted at different organisational levels from Learning to Lead, a program for those preparing to undertake their first leadership role, to the most senior level flagship program, Leading UQ, aimed at experienced leaders within UQ.

UQ also offers tailored leadership development tools, resources, and online learning to support your career development.

Career progression

ITS and UQ offer you the opportunity to grow your career.

Staff can employ LinkedIn Learning and edX which offer online access to a broad range of courses offered by leading universities – including UQ – from around the world.
