Brisbane City Council selected
Brisbane Move to design and deliver the major infrastructure works for the project. Brisbane Metro will operate from Eight Mile Plains to Roma Street, and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital to The University of Queensland.

Major infrastructure works at UQ Lakes station commenced in August 2022 and completed April 2024. Construction activities included upgrading the existing station platforms, shelters and seating to increase station capacity, and providing end-of-route charging for the electric metro fleet.

The Brisbane Metro at UQ Lakes station will open to the public from late 2024.
See Brisbane Metro website for more information.

UQ Lakes station changes from 15 April 2024

From 15 April 2024, the northern Platform 1 will reopen at UQ Lakes station. Buses will operate under a new stop layout, utilising both the northern Platform 1 and southern Platform 2.
From April through to late 2024, Platform 1 will be used for metro vehicle testing as well as for existing bus services. Customers will notice an increase in metro vehicle testing activities at the station, with Stop A being used as a dedicated metro testing stop. Customers will not be able to board metro vehicles during this time.

Brisbane City Council is working to streamline the transition, including increasing directional signage, monitoring bus services and ensuring the continued presence of support staff to assist passengers and pedestrians.
