Underpinning technologies

The underpinning technologies program focuses on core technology initiatives that will future-proof the University and allow it to keep pace in a dynamic and challenging higher education environment.

The underpinning technologies program plans to achieve the following in 2021:

  • continue the research storage access and enhancement program

  • increase UQ’s capability to store and secure larger data sets for research, academic and professional endeavours

  • continue to uplift UQ’s network capabilities

  • elevate UQ’s capacity for large-scale virtualised hosting platforms

  • support the cyber security program by delivering technology required to automate group management

  • commence a refresh of UQ’s analytics data infrastructure

  • refresh ITS printers and workstations

  • provide application streaming to address remote working and learning requirements and reduce demand on UQ labs and facilities

  • commence the Evergreen Supercomputing project.
